Company History
Christiana is a rural village nestled in the hills of Lancaster County, Pa. The town became historically significant prior to the Civil War by what was known as the "Christiana Riot." Christiana Cabinetry began in 1976 in Christiana, PA and operated its business there until 2003, when it relocated to Atglen, Pa, a tiny village bordering Christiana. Many Old Order Amish farmers tend these communities; their commitment to the land is still evident today as many families work the land without the help of electricity or other modern conveniences.
Founder of Christiana Cabinetry, Gerald Metzler began his cabinetry business as a hobby while working on his family farm. While farming was his first love, an unfortunate farm accident prohibited Gerald from career farming forcing him to start another career. In an old chicken house on the family farm, Winding Glen Woodcraft began as a furniture and small cabinet shop. To sustain business and increase volume, Gerald realized that he needed to expand outside the confines of Lancaster County. He hired a designer and moved out of the chicken house into a small office in the borough of Christiana. Business continued to grow, with a higher demand for kitchen cabinetry, and less demand for furniture goods. After recruiting several Designer Showrooms, furniture making ceased all together and a dealer network was established.
Today, Christiana Cabinetry manufactures only for an authorized dealer network with designer showrooms located throughout the continental US and Bermuda. Because of his farming experience, strong work ethic, superior employees, Gerald has built Christiana Cabinetry into a well respected, thriving business in the Christiana/Atglen Communities.
We are still committed to upholding simplistic work values of uncompromising quality workmanship, while retaining the same spirit of dedication to service. We strongly support the USA by purchasing wood from managed wood forests here in America, and purchasing only American made products for cabinet completion (hardware, etc). In addition, the Pure Bond gluing process used in our cabinetry, allows us to provide you, the client, with 100% formaldehyde free cabinets. These are just a few benefits of purchasing Christiana Cabinetry products.
We are a participating member of the National Kitchen & Bath Association, as well as the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association. Providing a solid ethical working foundation, characterized by mutual trust and accountability with our employees, vendors and dealers allows us to be extremely innovative in keeping up with this ever-changing fast-paced design industry.
