When you’ve decided it’s time to visit a kitchen design showroom, it’s a good idea to call ahead for an appointment with a kitchen designer.
Your First Appointment
Your initial appointment is about getting to know the designer and developing trust in them. Doing a little bit of homework before you go to the meeting will make things smoother for both you and the designer.
What to Bring to the Appointment:
- Budget: Take a candid look at your checkbook and have a frank conversation with your partner.
- Time frame: When do you want to have the project completed?
- Style File: Bring pictures of rooms, fabrics, appliances, furnishings, cabinetry and other amenities and accessories that appeal to you.
- Lists: Bring along a wish list of what you can’t live without and a list of what you have and what you’ll keep.
- Floor plans: Bring a floor plan of the room if you have one, if not, bring the dimensions of the room. Bring pictures of the existing room.
Bring a List of Questions, Such As:
- How long have they been in the business?
- What is their scope of participation in the project, i.e. choosing countertops, fixtures, appliances, wallpapers and flooring?
- When can work start on your project?
- What are the payment options and arrangements?
