Cabinetry Categories

In the US market, there are three categories of cabinetry:

Custom, Stock and Semi-custom.

Christiana Cabinetry is Custom Cabinetry.  Designers that represent and specify Christiana Cabinetry will collaborate with you to create a design that is tailored to fit your space, taste and your budget. If you can imagine it and your designer can draw it, Christiana Cabinetry will build it; the options are virtually limitless. These options not only include custom configured cabinetry, but also specialty wood and veneer species, custom finishes, cabinet and drawer organization inserts and mechanisms, architectural trim and moldings. Each cabinet is designed and built to your specifications, one cabinet at a time. Nothing is pre-made or warehoused. There are no standard sizes in custom cabinetry. Cabinet depth, height and width can be adjusted accordingly. Instead of using fillers to address gaps or unusual situations, unique solutions such as storage or display areas can be incorporated into the cabinetry.  Christiana Cabinetry is great value and very affordable.  Almost all of the materials (approximately 95%) used in the construction of our cabinetry are sourced from North America.

Semi-custom Cabinetry is a blend of stock cabinetry with some custom features such as increased or decreased cabinetry depths. This category does offer a broader range of options than stock, including sizes, shapes, wood species and finishes; however, it still follows the industry standard and fillers are generally necessary.

Stock Cabinets are ‘off-the-shelf’ – produced in a very limited number of designs, finishes and sizes. These are mass produced to industry’s standard sizes, pre-assembled and warehoused prior to purchase. Often times, kitchen dimensions do not correspond to the limited offerings and require fillers. Using fillers closes these gaps but equates to more wasted space.
